The (Very Late) Top 10 Films of 2019

Image
2019 was a very interesting year for films. It was basically filled with sequels and reboots. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. There was a lot of great things that came out in 2019 and this list is the best of the best, my opinion. (Author's note: I know that this list is extremely late, but I figured that it was better late than never with this post. Plus, I was too far in to it just to abandon it.) Top 5 Honorable Mentions The Addams Family The Secret Life Of Pets 2 Jumanji: The Next Level Spies In Disguise Toy Story 4 10. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part Director: Mike Mitchell Writers: Phil Lord & Chris Miller Starring: Chris Pratt & Elizabeth Banks Released: 02/08/2019 Superlative: Funniest Film It's no easy feat to create an animated film like The Lego Movie . It's not easy to create a sequel that lives up to the expectation of the original and it's even more of a challenge to create a sequel that is on par with its predecess

Best Couples in Film and Television

Image
Given that today is Valentine's Day, I thought that it would be fun to make a list of the best couples that film and television have to offer. Some of these couples didn't last for long but that doesn't mean they aren't extremely memorable. 10. Mufasa and Sarabi (The Lion King) Even though Simba and Nala are the main couple of Disney's The Lion King , Mufasa and Sarabi are definitely a power couple. In both the original from 1994 and the 2019 remake, their love holds strong even after Mufasa is murdered by his brother. It's always inspiring to see Sarabi hold her ground against Scar and keep Mufasa alive when the Pridelands become a desolate wasteland. 9.  Phillip Carlyle & Anne Wheeler (The Greatest Showman) From the moment they first meet, it is clear that Phillip and Anne's relationship is something that is magical. Phillip defies his family's desires so that he can be with Anne Wheeler and claims that they can '

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Infinity Stone Review

Image
(Spoilers for Captain Marvel ahead) All throughout Avengers: Infinity War , Thanos is after one thing. . . more like six. These are the infinity stones. Once they all come together, they make who ever wields them the most powerful being in the world. Thanos's main goal is to provide unlimited resources to the universe by using these six stones in a gauntlet, the infinity gauntlet, and snapping his fingers and erasing half of reality. At the end of Infinity War , we see Thanos achieve this goal and witness the deaths of beloved heroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther. Even though the gauntlet is destroyed, it seems as though the stones remain in one piece. Infinity War ends with Thanos watching a sun rise just as he told Doctor Strange he would do. The infinity stones are still a large part of the marvel universe and I thought I would make this quick review of all major appearances of each stone before Avengers: Endgame comes out. Space Stone  The First Stone we

Incredibles Theory: Did Tricycle Kid become Marvel's Agent Coulson?

Image
In honor of  Avengers: Endgame , I thought that I would dive into a theory that I've been sitting on since the summer. Can the Pixar film The Incredibes be linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Many would say no but I personally think that one character from The Incredibles can forge this link. I'm talking about none other, than Rusty McAllister AKA Tricycle Kid from the original Incredibles . My theory is that Rusty McAllister eventually became Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Phil Coulson. Background Check During the course of The Incredibles , we see Rusty a total of three times. The first time is when he sees Mr. Incredible come home from work and lift his car into the air in rage from breaking the window. The second time he responds to Mr. Incredible's question "What are you waitng for?" with "I dunno. Something amazing, I guess". Finally, the last time, he sees the final confrontation with Syndrome and exclaims "That was totally wic

The Top 10 Films of 2018

Image
Every year, I create a list of films I want to see over the course of the year. At the end of 2017, the list I put together for 2018 shocked me. Right from the start, 2018 is the year that I dubbed the Year of The Sequels. Even though some of them are not direct sequels, most of the films I saw this year continued an existing story in some way. The year started off with some incredible disappointments but as the year went on, I was hit with masterpiece after masterpiece. I have also awarded superlatives to films 10-2 to have a little more fun! This is my list of 2018's Best Films. Top 5 Honorable Mentions Peter Rabbit (Release Date: 2/9/2018) Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (Release Date: 7/13/2018) Ralph Breaks The Internet (Release Date: (11/21/2018) Ready Player One (Release Date: 3/29/2018) Mission: Impossible - Fallout (Release Date: 7/27/2018) 10. Placing The Lion King On The Disney Timeline

Image
A few years ago, a graphic appeared online putting all the animated Disney films in order on a timeline. As a Disney fanatic, this graphic made me undeniably happy. It made watching a Disney film more fun to me because it allowed me to think about possible effects the film before had on the one I was currently watching. However, one part of it bothered me. I consider the 1994 film of The Lion King to be a spectacle and one of the greatest movies the studio has made. On the timeline, The Lion King was placed in 1994 since that was the year of it's release. That didn't sit well with me and so I thought and theorized about where this amazing film could fit on the timeline. The more I thought, the more one of the other films of the Disney Renaissance came to me as a potential sister piece to The Lion King . That film is Tarzan which was released in 1999 and is considered by many to be the ending of one of the most successful financial times of the company. The more I com
